MySchools website - Results for the Drysdale / Clifton Springs Schools

"The My School website provides detailed information about all the schools in Australia. It uses a new index of student and school characteristics, developed specifically for the purpose of identifying schools serving similar student populations. Bellarine Peninsula Skate Series 2010 in Clifton Springs on February 14

The Bellarine Peninsula Skate Series is a competition held in Leopold, Clifton Springs, Portarlington, Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads during January and March. The Grand final will be held on 11 April at the Point Lonsdale Skate Park.

Drysdale and Clifton Springs Community Association (DCSCA) next meeting

The next meeting of the DCSCA is scheduled for Tuesday 2 February 2010 at 7.30 p.m. in the SpringDale Neighbourhood Centre, High Street, Drysdale.

The Committee meets regularly to discuss how the community is changing; they link with other local groups and organisations to improve the well-being of people in the area; and try to represent local people's ideas, views and hopes.

Current focus is on the Geelong Council's proposed amendment to the Springs Street area in Clifton Springs and the area bounded by High Street, Eversleigh Street and Princess Street in Drysdale.

The Bellarine Peninsula is part of the 2010 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival

Local restaurants, cafes and food producers on The Bellarine Peninsula will be hosting a series of events in conjunction with the 2010 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.

The program of events include:

  • The Worlds Longest Lunch in Portarlington at Bellarine Estate on Friday 12 March;
  • A Taste of Classic Queenscliff lunch at the Vue Grand on Sunday 14 March;
  • Tastes of the Bellarine Dinner on Friday 19 March; and concluding with
  • The Longest View Cocktail Party at Kilgour Estate on Sunday 21st March.

New Saturday Night Bus for Drysdale and Clifton Springs

From Saturday 6 February 2010, the Central Geelong NightBus will offer a new service to Drysdale/Clifton Springs to help people from these areas get home safely. 
The bus will leave central Geelong at 4.00am every Saturday night (Sunday mornings), for Drysdale/Clifton Springs and will cost $5 per person. 

Geelong City Councillor Jan Farrell said:

"We have introduced the Drysdale and Clifton Springs service in response to passenger requests, as well as feedback from the community about the need for transport to the Drysdale/Clifton Springs area."

You can catch the NightBus from Moorabool Street (between Malop and Little Malop Street), near the Safe Taxi Rank. Security guards will be on board at all times.

Tickets can be bought from the bus driver as you board the NightBus or beforehand at a range of places around Geelong, including the Geelong Council Customer Service Centres. As well as single one off tickets for $5, multi-ride tickets are also available for $25.  The NightBus Drysdale route map is available in pdf format. There is also a pocket timetable for the stops of the Central Geelong NightBus.

Bellarine Ferry Group gets support from visitors to the Portarlington Mussel Festival

The Bellarine Times (page 7 of 19 January 2010 issue) has reported that more than 600 people who attended the Portarlington Mussel Festival were interested in the proposed Bellarine ferry connecting Portarlington to Port Melbourne. Many said they would move to the Bellarine if the ferry was operational.

Geelong Show Jumping Club January Show at Drysdale

The Geelong Show Jumping Club January Show is being held this Australia Day long weekend from 22 -25 January 2010, at the Drysdale/Leopold Pony Club Grounds.

There are 2 Rings - Sand and Grass - with height classes starting at 45cm up to 1.15m. and prize money is over $2400.

Come down and watch - catering is available Saturday through Monday.

Tuckerberry Hill Blueberries - open now for you to pick your own

Located at 35 Becks Road in Drysdale, Tuckerberry Hill Blueberries is now open to the public to pick your own or buy pre picked blueberries.

Opening hours are 9am - 5pm daily during January and from Friday to Monday inclusive during February to March 2010.

A cafe is also on site for you to sample the local produce.

David arrived in Victoria in 1989 to run the Drysdale Tuckerberry Hill Blueberries property with his wife, children and Margaret, before his mother-in-law, Margaret Tucker, died nine years ago.

Bellarine Academy of Dance 2010 Timetable Released

The Bellarine Academy of Dance has published its 2010 dance class timetable.

The Academy offers a range of ballet, jazz and contemporary dance classes for all ages.

Spend a Day with Thomas the Tank Engine on the Bellarine Peninsula

On 23 and 24 January 2010 Thomas the Tank will be visiting the Bellarine Railway at Queenscliff

Included in your unlimited all day ticket is a 40 minute return train ride. You can park and ride to the Thomas event from Drysdale Railway Station. Trains will depart Drysdale at 10am & 1215pm returning 12.30 & 2.45pm. To book a seat on the Drysdale train please phone (03) 5258 2069.

Spray Farm showing "movies under the stars"

Spray Farm at 2275 Portarlington Road, Bellarine is showing movies under the stars.

Tickets are $15.00 and no concessions are available. Gates open at 7.30pm - screening starts from dusk (approximately 8.45pm). children under the age of 3 are admitted free.

Ice cream and popcorn as well as drink (soft drink, beer and wine) is available at the venue.

BYO deck chairs or picnic rug for the general admission area. You can also bring your own food and sealed bottled water. No alcohol is allowed to be brought into the venue as it is a licensed premises.

Portarlington Mussel Festival this Saturday 9 January

The Portarlington Mussel Festival is being held this Saturday 9 January from 10.30 am to 7pm. The festival will be promoting the local mussel growing industry and local wine and food producers from the Bellarine Peninsula.

There is a special children's area including a jumping castle, face painting and balloon sculpture, Tracey's Animal Farm, and a Fairy Dress heaven stall! Entertainment includes Code One the Victoria Police Band, Better Days, Matt Orchard, Bed Rock, Shaun Keet, Cool Change, Steno and Gracey, The Oviture and Star Girls Dance Show. Food stalls include: Love Nuts, Meredith Cheese, Hell's Breath, various coffee offerings, Bellarine Estate Abalone, Wagner Fine Foods, Timboon Ice Cream, Maldon Yabby Farm, Olive Grove stalls from Lighthouse and Manzanillo, and lots more..... Wine stalls will be provided by Leura Park Estate, Marcus Hill Vineyard, Wyuna Park Vineyard, Mermerus Wines, Grass Point Winesk Kilgour Estate, Otway Estate and Bellarine Estate.

Geelong Council Amendment for Princess, Woodville Streets

The Geelong Council's Amendment Amendment C103 Princess Street & Woodville Street, Drysdale is available to the public daily from 14 November 2009 to 18 January 2010.

The land affected by the amendment is generally bounded by Clarendon Road, Princess Street, Woodville Street and to the rear of the Business 4 zoned properties fronting Murradoc Road, Drysdale.

The amendment proposes to rezone the land from Farming Zone and Low Density Residential Zone to Residential 1 Zone and make the land subject to a Development Plan Overlay .
