Potato Shed 10th Birthday Party

Drysdale's Potato Shed is having its 10th birthday party this Friday April 1 at 8pm.  Tickets are $10.

Table seating is cabaret style, there is a licensed bar. Please bring a basket supper.  Tickets are limited.

Learn Lawn Bowls at Clifton Springs

Clifton Springs Bowling Club is holding a series of "learn to bowl" afternoons, starting Sunday March 27 at 12.45pm for a 1pm start.

2 hour sessions will cost $5 and finish with a sausage sizzle.

Saint Ignatius College Open Day Drysdale Sunday March 20

St Ignatius Secondary College is having its open day this Sunday March 20 from 11am - 2pm.

There will be an information session from 11am in the College Hall.

On Wednesday 4 May from 9am - 12 noon you can see the College at work.

Year 7, 9 and 11 academic scholarships applications close Friday 29 April.  The closing date for Year 7 enrolments for 2012 is Friday 20 May, 2011.

History of Drysdale Published

The Bellarine Historical Society has recently published "The Waterholes: A history of Drysdale on the Bellarine" by Lynette Willey.

The book covers early settlement of the Bellarine Peninsula, the early land holders, the various schools, chruches and sporting clubs that were in existence along with commercial enterprises, the railway station, various hotels, farming enterprises and so forth.  The book concludes with three walking historical tours of Drysdale you can take. Each walking tour takes approximately 90 minutes and begins and ends at the old Courhouse Museum in High Street Drysdale.

Kids Fund Run with Thomas the Tank - Drysdale

On Sunday 13 March 2011, there will be a kids fun run sponsored by the Rotary Club Highton Kardinia Inc. and Rotary International against Thomas the Tank Engine on the Bellarine Rail Trail at Drysdale.

The fun starts at 9.30am at the Drysdale railway Station and finishes at 1.30pm. There is free parking, picnic areas and a playground.

There will be the fun run, troublesome truck rides, jumping castle, chair-o-plane, animal farm, roving magic, face painting, circus workshops, painting and colouring in, and a maze.

Also displays from the Drysdale Historical Society, Police, SES, VicRoads and the Fire Brigade, along with food and drink stalls.

Early Bird Registrations are available at Thomas Fun Run - $10 per child, close 6th of March, 2011. Registrations after the 6th of March, 2011: $15 for first child, $12 for second child,  $10 for third and subsequent children.

Clean up Drysdale / Clifton Springs Day - Sunday March 6

This Sunday is Clean up Australia Day.

In Drysdale there are coordinated cleanups at the corner of Basin and Gillies Roads - starting at 10am till noon.

In Clifton Springs meet at the Clifton Springs rotunda from 10am till noon.

These locations are the meeting points.

If it makes it easier for you the Clean Up Australia organisers have developed an iPhone App.

The Clean Up Australia Day iPhone app is encouraging tech-savvy volunteers to share their experiences online and encourage other Australians to do their bit for the nation's largest community participation event.
The app's features allow users to find their nearest Clean Up Site, share photos and results through email and social media platforms and view the results of last year's Clean Up Australia Day Rubbish Report at the touch of their finger tips.

Bellarine Show on Sunday 13 March

The 21st Annual Bellarine Agricultural Show, will be held at the Portarlington Recreation Reserve on Sunday 13th March (Labour Day long weekend) from 9am.

Entries are invited for Horses, Cattle (Beef and Dairy), Pigeons and Poultry, Cookery, Flowers, Floral Design, Pot Plants and Produce, China Painting, Handcrafts, Home Brew, Vintage, Beaut Ute, Art and Photography, Dog Jumping, Pets Competitions, Skate Competition and Miss Showgirl and Master Showboy sections.

The horses section closes this Friday 4th March. Pre - Entry for the Horses section is  Members $3.00, Non-Members $3.50. Entry on the Day:  $5.00.
