More Info on the Griggs Creek proposed Bridge

Still no word on the outcome of the Griggs Creek bridge.

However, Dryclift Days has published a great overview of the status of the proposed Griggs Creek Bridge linking Bay Shore Avenue with the Jetty Road Development, entitled "A troubling bridge over local waters".

There is also a small article published in the Bellarine Independent on 12 August entitled "Bridge bypass to Guy’s office".

  1. Local residents opposing the 'no limits' bridge from Bayshore Avenue into the Jetty Road estate have received a letter from state Planning Minister Matthew Guy, in which he says, essentially, that because the bridge has been on plans for the estate that have been through the planning process and approved, he can't intervene.

The minister's letter, while respectful, misses the point. The initial proposal for a bridge was subjected to public scrutiny via the planning process, but CoGG's recent decision to change the status of the bridge from 'minor/local' to 'unlimited load' was taken without any such public scrutiny and in the face of consistent and growing public opposition.

DCSCA is supporting local residents in their opposition to this backroom decision-making and is inviting each local politician to do the same.

    Patrick Hughes.
